Meet India 2020

MEET INDIA 2020

Embassy of India, Hanoi and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam jointly organized “Meet India 2020” in Hanoi on 9 January 2020 to showcase opportunities presented by India and developments in India-Vietnam relations, for the provinces in Vietnam. The event provided an interactive platform for participants from both sides to deepen economic and business linkages in emerging and priority areas.

H.E. Bui Thanh Son, First Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam and H.E. Pranay Verma, Ambassador of India to Vietnam co-chaired the event. Over 150 participants, including senior officials and representatives from more than 25 provinces of Vietnam, joined along with members of Vietnamese and Indian business communities. Among provincial dignitaries, Chairman of Ninh Thuan province H.E. Luu Xuan Vinh, and Vice Chairman of Nam Dinh province H.E. Tran Le Doai were present. Indian Business Chamber in Vietnam (INCHAM) partnered in the event. A delegation from Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and representatives from India’s EXIM Bank, along with a number of Indian businesses having presence in Vietnam, also joined.

There were several presentations by industry representatives from both sides on investment opportunities in Vietnam’s pharmaceutical sector, energy sector, automobile component industry and smart cities/information technology. There were focussed sessions on India-Vietnam development partnership and opportunities in tourism sector. Indian participants also highlighted India as an attractive investment destination for Vietnamese businesses. 

Representatives from provinces presented investment opportunities in their respective provinces and highlighted interest in cooperation with India in developing smart cities, IT, renewable energy, engineering and automobile component manufacturing, manufacturing facilities for pharmaceuticals, as also in training and capacity building programmes under the Development Partnership framework of Government of India. On the margins of the event, representatives of Indian and Vietnamese companies and officials from provinces had informal exchanges to explore and identify specific collaborations.

“Meet India 2020” was the first such event focussing on Vietnamese provinces organized the Embassy of India in association with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam.
