Government of India Scholarships in Vietnam
The Government of India have awarded 78 scholarships to students and scholars from Vietnam for academic programmes at prestigious higher education establishments in India for the academic year starting in July-August 2025. The scholarships cover to and from airfare, tuition fee, stipends during the courses, gratis visa and facilities at the establishments.
These 78 scholarships coordinated by the Indian Council of Cultural Relations (ICCR) are part of the Atal Bihari Vajpayee General Scholarship Scheme (GSS), Mekong Ganga Cooperation Scholarship Scheme (MGC), Dr. S. Radhakrishnan Cultural Exchange Scholarship Scheme and the Lata Mangeshkar Dance & Music Scholarship Scheme (Culture) of the Government of India. The beneficiaries include officials from Vietnam Government, Vietnamese educational institutions, Buddhist scholars and students from across the country.
The selected Vietnamese students and scholars will include 38 scholars for PhD (doctorate) program, 24 students for Post Graduate (Master’s) program and 16 students for Undergraduate (Bachelor’s degree) program at premier institutes/universities in India such as Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee, Delhi University, Nalanda University, Banaras Hindu University, Savitribai Phule Pune University, Andhra University, Mumbai University, Gujarat University, Kerala University, Lucknow University, Dibrugarh University, etc.
The selected Vietnamese students and scholars will be studying courses which includes Information Technology, computer science, commerce, business administration, international relations, performing arts, public policy management, water resource, apart from the subjects of Buddhist studies, philosophy, psychology, Pali language, archaeology, ancient Indian history, Indian art and culture.
These educational programmes enrich longstanding and close ties between India and Vietnam under the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. It is estimated that there are at least 1000 alumni of Government of India’s educational scholarships serving in important positions in the governments, enterprises, universities, Buddhist institutions or self-employed in different locations. Separately, there are about 130 short-term training courses seats sponsored by the Government of India to Vietnam every year (details at www.itecgoi.in) and over 5000 Vietnamese nationals have utilized educational degree and short-term training courses in India over past decades.
