Madam Thanh is regarded as among the most accomplished painters in Vietnam. Her artworks are on permanent display at the National Museums of Art in several countries, including Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, Spain, and Sweden.

Speaking at the occasion, Ambassador Pranay Verma highlighted the bond created between India and Vietnam by Mahatma Gandhi and President Ho Chi Minh, and the relevance of Mahatma Gandhi’s messages of peace and non-violence in contemporary times.

Madam Nguyen Phuong Nga, President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisation, in her remarks, paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi, and recalled that President Ho Chi Minh and Vietnamese people were inspired by Mahatma Gandhi.

During the event, Madam Thanh presented her painting “Gandhi with Green Earth” to the Embassy. Short videos on Gandhiji’s life and on year-long events conducted by the Embassy to mark his 150th birth anniversary were also shown.

Members of diplomatic community, academia, think tank, media, friendship organisations, cultural institutions and the Indian community in Hanoi attended the event.
