INDIAN COUNCIL FOR CULTURAL RELATIONS (ICCR)
FOUNDAY DAY 2024

Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre (SVCC), Embassy of India, Hanoi celebrated the 75th Foundation Day of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) on 09th April 2024 at the Embassy, with participants from Vietnamese institutions, students and Indian diaspora.

2. The Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), is an autonomous organization of the Government of India, aimed at fostering cultural relations with various countries and promoting the understanding and appreciation of Indian culture globally. ICCR functions through Indian cultural centres around the world, including SVCC, Hanoi through Indian culture experts, cultural exchanges, education scholarships, etc.

On the occasion, the Ambassador of India to Vietnam emphasized the importance of people to people relations in India-Vietnam comprehensive strategic partnership and appreciated the role of SVCC Hanoi in strengthening cultural exchanges and deepening people to people bonds between India and Vietnam. Several elements such as ICCR scholarship, cultural and learning of Indian arts, language and yoga, scholars exchange, translation, arts and crafts activities were shared for enhancing cultural outreach further in Vietnam.

The celebration presented activities from Yoga, music and dance performances, sharing experiences of Vietnamese students in India, and introduction to ICCR scholarships that are open to Vietnamese students to apply in April-May 2024 for the term starting in August 2024. It was also an occasion for ICCR Alumni to showcase their recollections from their study in India. Ms. Hoang Dieu Huan, ICCR Alumnus who completed her study from the reputed Yoga institution Kaivalyadham, India presented a Yoga performance to audience. Bharatanatyam Dance called Melaprapthi was presented by Dancer Nguyen Manh Tung, who studied Master of Mass Communications & Journalism under ICCR scholarship.  Ms. Dinh Thi Phuong Thao, ICCR alumnus and lecturer of the Indian Studies Division, Faculty of Oriental Studies, University of Social Sciences & Humanities, shared her experience when studying in India and expressed her lasting love for the country.  All participants enjoyed Indian cuisine at the end of the programme.
