PRESS RELEASE
1. The Vietnam International Defence Exhibition 2022 (VIDE-2022) organised by the Ministry of National Defence of Vietnam was held at Gia Lam Airport, Hanoi from 08th – 10th December 2022. A total of 174 Enterprises from 30 countries participated in the event. Mr. T Natarajan, Additional Secretary (Defence Production), Ministry of Defence represented the Government of India at the Defence Exhibition.
2. India was represented by a total of 19 defence public sector undertakings and private manufacturers. India Pavilion was inaugurated by the Prime Minister of Vietnam, H.E. Mr. Pham Minh Chinh on 08th December 2022. The Indian participants included Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO), Advance Weapons and Equipment Limited (AWEL), Armoured Vehicles Nigam Limited (AVNL), Bharat Dynamic Limited (BDL), Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML), Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Limited (GRSE), Gliders India Limited (GIL), Mishra Dhatu Nigam Limited, TATA Advance Systems Limited (TASL), Zen Technologies Limited, SMPP Private Limited, NEO Power Electronics, Madras Rubber Factory (MRF), Larsen & Toubro (L&T) Limited, HBL Power Systems Limited, BrahMos Aerospace and Aeromag Asia - Aerosun Media Private Limited.
3. Indian companies showcased variety of products like light combat aircraft Tejas, various missiles (BrahMos, Akash, Astra etc), tanks, Boyevaya Mashina Pyekhoty (BMP), artillery guns, small arms, Offshore Patrol Vessels, High Speed Boats, Naval Ships, miscellaneous Defence goods, batteries and parachutes. The Indian delegation discussed opportunities with senior Vietnamese officials and experts including Sr Lt Gen Nguyen Tan Cuong, Chief of the General Staff (CGS) of Vietnam People’s Army (VPA), Lt Gen Ho Quang Tuan, Chief of General Department of Defence Industry (GDDI), Lt Gen Nguyen Van Nghia, Vice CGS VPA, Vice Chief of GDDI and CEO Viettel Group.
4. Apart from encouraging response from the Vietnamese officials and media,a large number of visitors witnessed the India Pavilion when the Defence Expo was opened for general public.
