Visit of business delegation led by PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) and Confederation of Commerce and Industry (CII) to Vietnam

In order to promote Indo-ASEAN Business Summit (scheduled to be held on 11-12 November, 2019 in New Delhi), a high profile business delegation of PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) visited Vietnam from 22-23 August 2019. The focus areas of this delegation were Energy, Agriculture, Agri products and Allied services, Healthcare and Pharmaceuticals, Infrastructure, Construction, Aviation Infrastructure, Tourism, IT Skills and Education.

The PHD members held discussions with Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam, Vietnam Software and IT Services Association (VINASA), Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT), Vietnam Banks Association and Indian Business Chamber in Hanoi (INCHAM). PHDCCI also signed two MOUs with VCCI and INCHAM during the visit.

Also, a separate business delegation of Confederation of Commerce and Industry (CII) visited Vietnam from 21-23 August 2019 to establish direct contact with key decision makers and industry leaders from Vietnam.

During CII’s visit, a Vietnam India Business Forum was organized in Ho Chi Minh City. Over 100 Vietnamese delegates from the provinces of Southern Vietnam participated in the event and discussed business opportunities in the sectors of Information Technology, Rubber, agro-processing, infrastructure, renewable energy, aviation, pharmaceuticals and healthcare. Several presentations were made at the event; detailing the opportunities, incentives and policies for attracting FDI in Vietnam. The delegation visited Binh Duong province to explore business opportunities available in the province and Rubber Manufacturing Association, Vietnam Electricity Corporation (EVN) and Saigon Hi-Tech Park to discuss about bilateral trade and investment. In Hanoi, the CII delegation met Deputy Minister of Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam and Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI).

During the visit of these two delegations, an Interactive Business Meet was organized by the Embassy of India on 23rd August, 2019. Ambassador Pranay Verma, Mr. Bui Trung Nghia, Deputy General Secretary of VCCI, Mr. Joseph Michael Kallivayalil, Head of CII delegation, Mr. Ajay Poddar, PHDCCI delegation and Mr. Harish Taparia, Chairman, INCHAM addressed the gathering of Indian and Vietnamese business communities and briefed them about the opportunities available in bilateral trade and investment between the two countries.
