Press Release on Special Webinar on “India At 75”

To launch the year-long celebration of the 75th Independence Day of India, the Embassy of India in Hanoi organised its one of the signature events - Special Webinar on “India At 75” on 12 August 2021. The Webinar saw the participation of H.E. Nguyen Quoc Dzung, Hon’ble Vice Foreign Minister, Her Excellency Madam Nguyen Phuong Nga, President, Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO), Most Venerable Thich Duc Thien, Vice Chairman & General Secretary of the Executive Council, Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, His Excellency Nguyen Trung Khanh, Chairman, Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, His Excellency Ranjit Rae, former Ambassador of India to Vietnam, His Excellency Ton Sinh Thanh, former Ambassador of Vietnam to India and senior representatives of Vietnam Institute for Indian and Southwest Asian Study of Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences, Centre for Indian Study at Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Indian Business Chamber in Hanoi.

Moderating the Webinar, Ambassador of India to Vietnam, Mr. Pranay Verma welcomed the delegates and invited them to share their thoughts on this special day.

In his keynote address His Excellency Nguyen Quoc Dzung, Vice Foreign Minister praised the ancient connect between the two old civilizations and lauded the achievements made in the bilateral relations in the modern time. He added, “today, Viet Nam - India relations thrive across all five pillars of cooperation, ranging from Politics and Diplomacy to Security and Defense, to Economy - Trade - Investment, Science and Technology, Education and Training, and Culture, Sports and Tourism. Our mutual political trust and bond have also further deepened through increased high-level contacts, exchanges, and mutual visits, particularly since the upgrading of relations in 2016.” He also expressed deep gratitude to the Indian Government for the generous support for Viet Nam in the fight against Covid-19. “These gestures are vivid testaments to the mutual cooperation and assistance between our two countries in jointly overcoming the Covid-19 pandemic,” he added.

All participants congratulated the people and Government of India on the momentous occasion of India’s 75th Independence Day and appreciated India’s achievements over the last 75 years and affirmed confidence in the future development of India and the India-Vietnam Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

To mark the 75th years of Independence Day of India and the 50th year of establishment of the diplomatic relations between India and Vietnam, in 2022, Embassy of India in association with relevant organizations of Government of Vietnam, plans to organise a series of special commemorative events.
