Cabinet approves declaration of Kushinagar Airport in Uttar Pradesh as an International Airport

Kushinagar airport in Uttar Pradesh has been declared an international airport by Government of India. 
 
It is located in the vicinity of several Buddhist Cultural Sites like Sravasti, Kapilvastu, Lumbini (Kushinagar itself is a Buddhist cultural site). A revered pilgrimage site for Buddhists the world over, Kushinagar is believed to be the place where Lord Buddha attained Mahaparinirvana after his death. 
 
With the international airport in Kushinagar, Buddhist pilgrims all over the world, including Vietnam, will have convenient access to this holy site.
