Mr. Dang Huy Hau, Standing Vice Chairman of People’s Committee of Quang Ninh Province

Mr. Thang Van Phuc, Former Vice Minister of Home Affairs of Vietnam

Namaskar,

It gives me great pleasure to join you all to celebrate the International Day of Yoga today.

The scenic beauty of Halong Bay makes this celebration even more impressive.

I am thankful to the Provincial Government of Quang Ninh for hosting this event to mark the International Day of Yoga.

I particularly appreciate the initiative taken by the Provincial Party Secretary, His Excellency Mr. Nguyen Xuan Ky to organise this event in Halong and to invite us to be a part of it.

Today’s event being organised by Quang Ning province is also a testimony to the impressive achievements made by Vietnam in controlling the COVID-19 pandemic.

Friends,

Yoga, a gift of ancient India to the world, has become a way of life for millions across the world.

It is particularly heartening to see that in Vietnam, the popularity of Yoga has permeated across the length and breadth of the country.

Yoga manifests our mutual cultural affinity and a bond that connects our peoples and the entire humanity in a shared pursuit of wellness and happiness.

As a mark of immense popularity of Yoga, the world commemorates 21st June every year as the International Day of Yoga.

In the present times, where people all around the world are adapting their lives to the new reality of a pandemic, Yoga has become even more relevant.

Yoga is helping millions across the world in maintaining a healthy regimen and in boosting immunity and sense of

balance during these extraordinary times.

As Prime Minister Modi has said in his message on this year’s International Day of Yoga, “Yoga offers something for everyone, it enables strong mind and healthy body. In the post-COVID era, the focus on preventive health care will get stronger and that is why I am confident that Yoga will become even more popular.”

Friends,

By celebrating the International Day of Yoga today – whether here in Quang Ninh or from billions of homes across the world – we are celebrating our common humanity and contributing to the global healing process.

Let us embrace Yoga to make wellness a part of our lives.

I once again thank you all – the people and the Government of Quang Ninh, all participants, the organizers and all those who have worked behind the scenes – for putting in place this blissful celebration.

I wish you and all your loved ones health, happiness and peace through regular practice of Yoga.

Stay healthy. Stay safe.

Let the light of yoga illuminate our lives and the world.

Let the light of Yoga elevate our minds and empower humankind everywhere.

Thank You.

Long live India-Vietnam Friendship!
