Ambassador Pranay Verma visited Nam Dinh Province on 8th August 2019 and met H.E. Mr. Pham Dinh Nghi, Chairman of People’s Committee of Nam Dinh to explore ways to further strengthen cooperation between India and Nam Dinh Province.During the visit, Ambassador Verma also visited the Hai Long Kindergarten in the Hai Hau district of Nam Dinh Province, where GOI has provided development assistance for extension of the existing infrastructure under GOI’s Quick Impact Project programme. The kindergarten is the main source of education for young children in the Hai Long commune of Nam Dinh. More than 500 children will benefit from this development partnership.

On 14th October 2019, Ambassador Pranay Verma hosted a delegation from Phu Yen province led by the Party Secretary of the province H.E. Mr. Huynh Duc Viet over a luncheon reception. Both sides also took this opportunity to sign an MOU for a project for upgradation and repair of an overpass bridge at Tan Long Village, Xuan Son Nam Commune of Phu Yen Province under Government of India’s Quick Impact Project (QIP) programme.

Embassy of India and the People’s Committee of PhuTho province signed an MOU on 18 October 2019 for development assistance under the Quick Impact Project (QIP) programme of Government of India for construction of a classroom building at Hau Bong Kindergarten in Hau Bong Commune, Ha Hoa District in PhuTho province.

During his visit to Quảng Nam province, Ambassador was received by the Provincial Party Secretary, H.E. Phan Viet Cuong at the provincial capital Tam Ky.During the meeting, they reviewed the progress in the archeological restoration work being undertaken by Government of India at MỹSơn temple complex, and explored prospects for enhancing the province’s tourism, investment and development partnership with India.

As part of Embassy’s outreach to the provinces of Vietnam, Ambassador visited Quang Ninh on 11 June 2020 and met with the Provincial Party Secretary H.E. Mr. Nguyen Xuan Ky. They discussed new avenues for cooperation in trade and economy, technology, higher education, tourism and cultural exchanges.

During his visit to Quang Ninh province on 11 June, Ambassador Pranay Verma inaugurated a new block for the old-age home at Quang Ninh Social Protection Centre at Nam Khe commune, constructed with Government of India’s grant assistance of US$50,000 under the Quick Impact Project programme. The new block, completed in less than five months, will accommodate 25 senior citizens and will be a modest contribution from India to the commune’s socio-economic development efforts.

On 7 August 2020, Ambassador Pranay Verma and Mr. Vu Van San, President of Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology (PTIT) of Vietnam signed an Addendum to the Agreement for implementation of a project to set up a state-of-the-art centre for advanced IT Training at PTIT, Ho Chi Minh City with an Indian assistance of US$ 1.08 million under the ASEAN-India Cooperation Fund.

Seven MoUs were signed between Government of India and four southern Provinces of Vietnam — Ben Tre, HauGiang, KienGiang and Tien Giang — at a ceremony held on 23 September 2020 in Can Tho city to implement India’s development assistance for water resource management projects in Vietnam’s Mekong Delta Region.

Marking another concrete outcome in India’s long-standing development partnership with Vietnam, an irrigation project was inaugurated in Nghia Lo town of Yan Bai province in northern Vietnam on 10.10.2020. The project, involving a 2.1 km long in-field canal, was implemented under Government of India’s Quick Impact Project programme and completed in a short span of six months with an Indian grant assistance of US$ 50,000.
