Award of Certificate of Honour for distinguished scholars in Indian Classical Languages

Presidential Award of Certificates of Honours to distinguished scholars
Inviting applications for the Presidential Award of Certificate of Honour to scholars of Sanskrit, Pali, Prakrit, Arabic, Persian, Classical Oriya, Classical Kannada, Classical Telugu and Classical Malayalam and the Maharshi Badrayan Vyas Samman (MBVS) for young scholars in the same fields.

The Certificate of Honour will be awarded to scholars of Sanskrit, Pali, Prakrit, Arabic, Persian, Classical Oriya, Classical Kannada, Classical Telugu and Classical Malayalam. Under this scheme a Certificate of Honour, a shawl and a onetime monetary grant of Rs. 5,00,000/- each is awarded to Scholars of eminence over 60 years of age with outstanding contribution in the field of each of these languages.

2.         The scheme also provides for One International Award of Certificate of Honour to a Non-resident Indian or person of non-Indian origin with outstanding contributions in the field of Sanskrit and Two International Awards (one each for person of Indian and Non-Indian origin) in each of the languages of Classical Oriya, Classical Kannada, Classical Telugu and Classical Malayalam. These prestigious Awards will be presented through any dignitary as decided by the Ministry of Human Resource Development.

3.         The Maharshi Badrayan Vyas Samman (MBVS) Award is for young scholars in the age group of 30-45 years who have made a breakthrough in inter-disciplinary studies involving contribution of Sanskrit or ancient Indian wisdom/promotion of science in these languages. 

4.         Distinguished scholars in the languages as mentioned above may kindly submit their applications as per enclosed proforma to this Mission (email: com.hanoi@mea.gov.in) by 25 April 2019 for onward transmission to Ministry of Human Resource Development for their final consideration.
