EMBASSY OF INDIA

HANOI

PRESS RELEASE

It has come to the notice of the Embassy of India, Hanoi that several unauthorized and fraudulent websites have been operating and offering e-visa services to prospective visitors to India. These websites have been modeled on the official website of Ministry of Home Affairs (www.indianvisaonline.gov.in) and appear similar in their name and are intended to mislead those applying for e-visas.

2.      These websites offer tourist, business and medical e-visas and charge about $ 50-80 higher than the rates prescribed by Government of India for e-visas.  At times, it has also come to the notice of this Embassy that the websites have also been warning visa seekers of cancellation of their applications for a few weeks if they fail to pay the amount in a short duration, thus pressurizing applicants to pay the amount that they demand.

3.      It is to bring to the notice of all that the e-visa programme initiated by Government of India is user friendly and easy to operate in three simple steps. Further, the Government of India has not authorized any private company to operate on its behalf for issuance of e-visa.

4.      In case of any clarification, Embassy of India in Hanoi may please be approached on phone at +84948853067 or through e-mail at pptvisa.hanoi@mea.gov.in
