Vesak 2018 "Buddha's Birthday" was celebrated in the Embassy on 29 May 2018 with the participation of senior leadership of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha. Ambassador P. Harish, Most Venerable Thich Thien Nhon, Chairman of the Excutive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, and Most Venerable Thich Duc Thien, Padma Shri awardee and Vice Chairman and Secretary General of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, leaders of the Vietnam India Friendship Association and members of the Indian Community attended the function which included planting of the Bodhi Tree from Bodh Gaya, India.
