Ambassador Pranay Verma joined the Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee H.E. Mr. Vo Van Hoan at the India-Vietnam Business Forum in HCM City on 17 March 2022. The event was organized by the Consulate General of India in partnership with the Trade and Investment Promotion Centre of HCM City, Indian Chamber of Commerce and Invest India.

In his remarks, Ambassador Verma highlighted the recent growth in bilateral economic ties between India and Vietnam, as reflected in their bilateral trade exceeding US$ 13 billion in 2021 despite the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. He urged businesses of the two countries to explore new opportunities to further enhance economic ties at a time when both India and Vietnam were focused on pursuing rapid economic development. Ambassador also underlined the key reforms undertaken by the Government of India in recent years and the development blueprint announced in India’s latest #Budget2022 focussing on investament, infrastructure and innovation, in pursuit of the vision of #AatmanirbharBharat and enhanced Ease of Doing Business.

The event was also addressed by Vice Chairman Hoan, Additional Secretary of India’s Department of Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ms. Sumita Dawra and Ambassador of Vietnam to India, H.E. Mr. Phạm Sanh Chau.

The seminar focused on some key economic sectors such as engineering, ancillary industry, textile, e-commerce, digital economy and retail, and included an exclusive B2B session.

Đại sứ Pranay Verma đã tham dự cùng Ông Võ Văn Hoan, Phó Chủ tịch Ủy ban Nhân dân Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh tại Diễn đàn Doanh nghiệp Việt Nam - Ấn Độ tại TP.HCM ngày 17 tháng 3 năm 2022. Sự kiện do Tổng Lãnh sự quán Ấn Độ tại TP.HCM phối hợp với Trung tâm Xúc tiến Thương mại và Đầu tư TP.HCM, Phòng Thương mại Ấn Độ và Invest India tổ chức.

Trong bài phát biểu của mình, Đại sứ nhấn mạnh sự phát triển gần đây trong quan hệ kinh tế song phương giữa Ấn Độ và Việt Nam, thể hiện qua thương mại song phương vượt mức 13 tỷ USD vào năm 2021 bất chấp sự gián đoạn do đại dịch COVID-19 gây ra. Ông kêu gọi các doanh nghiệp hai nước tìm hiểu những cơ hội mới để tăng cường hơn nữa quan hệ kinh tế vào thời điểm mà cả Ấn Độ và Việt Nam đều tập trung theo đuổi phát triển kinh tế nhanh chóng. Đại sứ cũng nhấn mạnh những cải cách chính do Chính phủ Ấn Độ thực hiện trong những năm gần đây và kế hoạch phát triển được công bố trong Ngân sách hàng năm mới nhất của Ấn Độ tập trung vào đầu tư, cơ sở hạ tầng và đổi mới, nhằm theo đuổi tầm nhìn Ấn Độ Tự Cường và nâng cao Khả năng kinh doanh.

Sự kiện tập trung vào một số lĩnh vực kinh tế chính như kỹ thuật, công nghiệp phụ trợ, dệt may, thương mại điện tử, kinh tế kỹ thuật số và bán lẻ, đồng thời bao gồm một phiên trao đổi riêng giữa các doanh nghiệp.
