The 50th anniversary of the establishment of Diplomatic Relations between India and Vietnam was celebrated in Hanoi on 6 January 2022 by the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) and the Vietnam-India Friendship Association (VIFA) in partnership with the Embassy of India. The event was graced by the Vice President of Vietnam, Her Excellency Vo Thi Anh Xuan. Vice President of India, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu sent a video message on the occasion. Vietnam’s Minister of Information and Communications and Chairman of VIFA, His Excellency Nguyen Manh Hung and Ambassador Pranay Verma also addressed the gathering.
The celebrations included a bouquet of cultural performances by Indian and Vietnamese artistes showcasing the long-standing friendship between the two countries.
India and Vietnam established formal Diplomatic Relations on 7 January 1972, even though friendly relations and close ties between the two countries long preceded that milestone. This important landmark in the year 2022 coincides with #AzaadiKaAmritMahotsav, the 75th anniversary of India’s independence, which adds to the significance of the occasion.

Lễ kỷ niệm 50 năm thiết lập quan hệ ngoại giao giữa Ấn Độ và Việt Nam được đánh dấu bởi một sự kiện do Liên hiệp các Tổ chức Hữu nghị Việt Nam (VUFO), Hội Hữu nghị Việt Nam-Ấn Độ (VIFA) phối hợp với Đại sứ quán Ấn Độ tổ chức tại Hà Nội vào ngày 6 tháng 1 năm 2022. Sự kiện có sự tham gia của Phó Chủ tịch nước Việt Nam, Bà Võ Thị Ánh Xuân. Phó Tổng thống Ấn Độ Ngài Venkaiah Naidu cũng gửi thông điệp video nhân dịp này. Bộ trưởng Bộ Thông tin Truyền thông Việt Nam, Ngài Nguyễn Mạnh Hùng và Đại sứ Pranay Verma cũng phát biểu tại sự kiện.
Sự kiện bao gồm các tiết mục văn nghệ do nghệ sỹ Ấn Độ và Việt Nam biểu diễn, thể hiện tình hữu nghị bền chặt giữa hai nước.
Ấn Độ và Việt Nam chính thức thiết lập quan hệ ngoại giao vào ngày 7 tháng 1 năm 1972, mặc dù quan hệ thân thiết và gần gũi giữa hai nước đã tồn tại rất lâu trước cột mốc ấy. Dấu mốc quan trọng này vào năm 2022 trùng với lễ #AzadiKaAmritMahotsav, lễ hội kỷ niệm 75 năm Ấn Độ độc lập, càng khiến dịp kỷ niệm này trở nên có ý nghĩa hơn.
