At a webinar titled – “India as an Emerging Global Power and its Relationship with Vietnam” - organised by the Consulate General of India in HCM City on 13 August 2021, two of India’s leading experts on international relations – Ambassador Shyam Saran and Prof. S. D. Muni – spoke on the significance and prospects of India-Vietnam relations in the context of India’s foreign policy over the last 75 years. From the Vietnamese side, former Ambassador to India, Prof. Ton Sinh Thanh and Prof. Hoang Van Viet from University of Social Sciences and Humanity, HCM City made presentations.
Ambassador Pranay Verma delivered the opening remarks highlighting the significance of the webinar at a time when India was celebrating its 75th Independence Day and as India and Vietnam prepare to mark the 50th anniversary of their diplomatic relations. He underlined Vietnam's importance in India's Act East Policy and Indo-Pacific Vision.
Consul General of India, Dr. Madan Mohan Sethi offered the Vote of Thanks. Nearly 300 participants attended the webinar.
