Ambassador visited the Vietnam Literature Museum in Hanoi on 28 August 2020 and paid floral tributes to Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore’s bronze bust, which was installed there in 2011 to mark his 150th birth anniversary. Gurudev Tagore’s bust was the first statue of a foreign literary figure to be installed at the Vietnam Literature Museum, highlighting the special admiration and respect towards the poet laureate in Vietnam. Gurudev Tagore’s visit to Saigon in June 1929 was an important landmark in India-Vietnam ties in the 20th century, demonstrating mutual solidarity during our freedom struggle. Many of Gurudev Tagore’s poems have since been translated into Vietnamese.
