Ambassador Pranay Verma hosted a delegation from Phu Yen province led by the Party Secretary of the province H.E. Mr. Huynh Duc Viet over a luncheon reception, before the delegation’s departure to India on a week-long visit at the invitation of the Ministry of External Affairs of India under its Distinguished Visitors Programme. Both sides also took this opportunity to sign an MOU for a project for upgradation and repair of an overpass bridge at Tan Long Village, Xuan Son Nam Commune of Phu Yen Province under Government of India’s Quick Impact Project (QIP) programme. The project, once completed, will improve the connectivity infrastructure in a mountainous area of Phu Yen province, thus creating favourable conditions for people’s livelihood and socio-economic development of the region. India’s development cooperation with Vietnam under the Quick Impact Project programme is moving at a steady pace since its inception in 2014. A total of nine QIP projects have been implemented in different provinces so far, generating significant positive impact among the beneficiary communities.
