16th United Nations Day of Vesak

16th United Nations Day of Vesak was celebrated at Tam Chuc Pagoda in Ha Nam Province of Vietnam by the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha and International Council of the UNDV with the theme of "Buddhism Approach to Global Leadership and Shared Responsibilities for Sustainable Societies". Hon'ble Vice President was the Guest of Honour and was invited to deliver the Keynote address. He was received by HE Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Prime Minister of Vietnam and the Supreme Patriarch of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha Most Venerable Thich Tri Quang. Hon'ble Vice President delivered the Keynote address at UN Day of Vesak and highlighted the importance of Buddha's teachings today for global leadership and building sustainable societies. He also urged world leaders to work together to promote peace, harmony and justice based on compassion and wisdom. The participation of Hon'ble Vice President in the UN Day of Vesak celebrations and his Keynote address highlight the common civilizational heritage of Buddhism that India shares with numerous countries, including Vietnam, and will further strengthen ties between India and Buddhist communities worldwide.
