A very good morning, Xin Chao and Namaskar
It is a great honour for me as the Ambassador of India to attend this auspicious event on Vesak Day celebrations today at this beautiful Yen Phu Pagoda.
India and Viet Nam are linked by the rich and eternal legacy of Lord Buddha which is believed to have arrived in Viet Nam about two millennia ago with Indian monks carrying the teachings of Lord Buddha. These deep connections continue to nourish the warmth and affinity between the people of the two countries, which were described by President Ho Chi Minh as brotherhood forever.
This sacred day commemorates the birth, enlightenment, and ‘parinirvana’ of Lord Buddha, and honours the profound contributions of Buddhism to the spiritual and moral advancement of humanity.
The teachings and philosophy of Lord Buddha have left an enduring imprint on the minds of people worldwide. It offers enormous hope for peace and progress for humanity. The ideals and path shown by Lord Buddha have huge role to play in addressing the challenges of the present world.
The spiritual and philosophical bond of Buddhism continues to influence relations between India and Viet Nam even in our modern-day engagement. Buddhism has been and will continue to be a key element in further strengthening the friendship between the people of Viet Nam and India.
I would like to thank the Viet Nam – India Friendship Association, Viet Nam Buddhist Sangha and the Chief Abbot of Yen Phu Pagoda for inviting me.
May Lord Buddha’s blessings be with all of us. I would like to extend good health, happiness and success to all of you present here.
Namo Shakyamuni Buddha, Nam Mo Thich Ca Mau Ni Phat
Xin Cam on, Dhanyawad
