INDIAN FILM FESTIVALS IN VIETNAM IN 2025

Indian cinema took centre stage across Vietnam through a vibrant series of 31 Indian film festivals in 24 provinces and cities between January – July 2025. These festivals were organized by the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre (SVCC), Embassy of India in Hanoi, and the Consulate General of India in Ho Chi Minh City, in close collaboration with Vietnamese local authorities, including major locations such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh city, Da Nang, Hai Phong, and Hue. A list of the screenings is annexed.

The festival featured a well-considered selection of Indian films which were appreciated by the audience in Vietnam:

1.   RRR (Tiếng Gầm Tự Do) (RRR)
      Language: Telugu | Subtitle: Vietnamese 

2.   Tiếng Anh Tiếng Em (English Vinglish)
      Language: Hindi | Subtitle: Vietnamese 

3.   Sống chỉ một lần (Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara)
      Language: Hindi | Subtitle: Vietnamese 

4.   Nữ Đô vật (Dangal)
      Language: Hindi | Subtitle: Vietnamese & English

The festival represents appreciation for cinema and growing people-level ties between India and Vietnam. The active support and cooperation of local Departments of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Cultural Centres, Universities, and Cinemas was very encouraging. In several locations, the Indian film festivals were part of broader celebrations such as Cultural Exchange with India, the celebrations of International Day of Yoga, etc.

On 01 July 2025, World Premier of feature film "Love in Vietnam", a production involving film fraternity in India and Vietnam, was held at the Da Nang Asian Film Festival in Vietnam together with the cast and film crew members. The film is set to be released nationwide in India and Vietnam in the upcoming months.

India has one of the oldest and the largest film industries globally with over thousand movies produced in India every year in more than 20 languages. Indian cinema has attracted international attention and acclaim globally. With a global presence, the Indian film industry grossed about 200 billion Indian rupees (USD 2.3 billion) in the past year.

Further Indian Film Festivals and India-Vietnam cultural collaborations are planned in the future, building on the positive momentum and shared enthusiasm generated by this successful festival series.
