Advisory for Indian students who are desirous of pursuing medical education in Vietnam 

1. 1. Duration of the undergraduate programme in Vietnam is six years.
   
   
2. 2. Students in Vietnamese medical universities undergo clinical practise/ internship during the programme. Students seeking admission may ascertain details regarding compliance of the clinical practice with the National Medical Commission (Foreign Medical Graduate Licentiate) Regulations 2021 issued vide Notification dated 18 November 2021 and other such regulations issued by National Medical Commission from time to time in this regard during the admission process itself. 
   
   
3. 3. Some Vietnamese medical universities impart education in English language. However, foreign students need to be proficient in Vietnamese to undergo practical training which includes interaction with patients who communicate in the local language. 
   
   
4. 4. To be eligible to obtain a license for medical practise in Vietnam, students are required to complete 12 months of hospital practise after obtaining their undergraduate degree. In addition, they are also required to pass a centralized government licensing exam to be introduced from 2027. This licensing exam will likely be conducted in the Vietnamese language. Therefore, students are expected to have a high level of Vietnamese language proficiency for both hospital practice and the exam.
   
   
5. 5. Students seeking admission to any particular university in Vietnam need to determine directly from the university as to whether it follows the criteria such as medium of instruction, syllabus, clinical training or internship, etc. which are required to subsequently be eligible to practice in India as laid down in National Medical Commission (Foreign Medical Graduate Licentiate) Regulations 2021 issued vide Notification dated 18 November 2021 and other such regulations issued by National Medical Commission from time to time. 
   
   
6. 6. Students seeking medical admission in Vietnam are strongly advised to conduct thorough due diligence and clarify the aforementioned points before finalizing their enrollment.
