India@75: Webinar on Buddhist Philosophy

As part of the series of events to mark the "Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav", Embassy of India and Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre (SVCC), Hanoi organized a webinar on Buddhist Philosophy on 28 September 2021.
Ambassador Pranay Verma, in his opening remarks, highlighted the Buddhist linkages between India and Vietnam as an important foundation of their contemporary bilateral relations and underlined the relevance of Lord Buddha’s messages and Buddhist philosophy in the midst of global uncertainties and stresses of modern lifestyle.
Most Venerable Dr. Thich Nhat Tu, Standing Vice Rector of Vietnam Buddhist University in Ho Chi Minh City, who is an alumnus of India’s Delhi and Allahabad Universities and holds a doctoral degree in Buddhist studies from Allahabad University, and Dr. Arvind Kumar Singh, Assistant Professor of School of Buddhist Studies & Civilization at Gautam Buddha University in New Delhi made presentations on Buddhist philosophy and cultural links between India and Vietnam.
The event was part of regular events hosted by the Embassy and SVCC to explore the shared Buddhist heritage of India and Vietnam.

Nằm trong chuỗi sự kiện của chuỗi sự kiện kỷ niệm 75 năm Ngày Độc lập của nước Cộng hòa Ấn Độ (Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav), Đại sứ quán Ấn Độ và Trung tâm Văn hóa Swami Vivekananda (SVCC), Hà Nội đã tổ chức Tọa đàm trực tuyến về Triết học Phật giáo vào ngày 28 tháng 09 năm 2021. Trong bài phát biểu khai mạc, Đại sứ Pranay Verma đã nhấn mạnh mối liên kết Phật giáo giữa Ấn Độ và Việt Nam như một nền tảng quan trọng của mối quan hệ song phương đương đại và nhấn mạnh sự phù hợp của thông điệp Đức Phật và triết lý Phật giáo trong bối cảnh bất ổn và căng thẳng toàn cầu với lối sống hiện đại.
Thượng tọa Thích Nhật Từ, Phó Viện trưởng thường trực, Học viện Phật giáo Việt Nam, TP Hồ Chí Minh, cựu sinh viên Đại học Delhi và Dại học Allahabad của Ấn Độ, có bằng Tiến sĩ Phật học tại Đại học Allahabad; và Tiến sĩ Arvind Kumar Singh, Giáo sư Dự khuyết, Trường Nghiên cứu Phật giáo & Văn minh Phật giáo tại Đại học Gautam Buddha, New Delhi đã trình bày về triết học Phật giáo và mối liên hệ văn hóa giữa Ấn Độ và Việt Nam.
Sự kiện này là một phần trong chuỗi các hoạt động thường xuyên do Đại sứ quán và SVCC tổ chức nhằm khám phá di sản Phật giáo chung của Ấn Độ và Việt Nam.
