The Government of India has launched a new portal titled 'Global Pravasi Rishta Portal' with a view to ensure regular interaction between the Indian Missions/Posts, pravasi Indians and the Government of India. The portal is not restricted to only Indian nationals, it is also open to PIO and OCI cardholders apart from NRIs. By registering themselves on the portal, the Pravasis would be able to interact both with the Indian Missions/Posts as well with the Government of India on various subjects of their interest (please note that this portal is not designed for application services or redressal of grievances for which there are dedicated portals like Passport seva portal, MADAD etc.).  

Some of the features of the portal are:

• Global Pravasi Rishta Portal will facilitate the diaspora by connecting them to various existing and new government schemes beneficial for them
• The portal will assist the diaspora during crisis management.
• It would enable communication on a real-time basis.
• The portal will help the Indian diaspora to reach the consular services and officers in time of emergencies.
• It will display various events that are organized by the missions and the invites will be sent to diaspora members through the portal for greater participation.
• The dynamic nature of the portal and the app will allow the Government of India to take useful opinions of the Indian diaspora on policy issues, conducting surveys, sharing e-newsletters, etc.
