EMERGENCY CERTIFICATE IN CASE OF LOSS OF PASSPORT

In case of loss of passport, the applicant is required to lodge FIR/Missing complaint at the nearest police station to avoid any untoward situation and thereafter has to visit the Embassy in person for issuance of EMERGENCY CERTIFICATE (EC) from the Embassy. 

Steps for receiving Emergency Certificate from the Embassy: -

  1. 1. Apply for Emergency Certificate (EC) online. The link for online application is - https://mportal.passportindia.gov.in/mission.      

Applicant should select Country as Vietnam then Embassy of India, Hanoi during filling up the application online.

  1. 2. After submitting the application online, print out of the duly filled in copy of EC application with uploaded Photograph and Signature/Left Thumb impression (as per ICAO guidelines) is to be submitted at the Embassy in Hanoi.

  2. 3. Applicant has to visit Embassy of India in Hanoi between 0930 to 1230 hours after getting an online appointment and submit hard copy of online application.

  1. 3. Documents required: 
  2. 4. Printed Emergency Certificate (EC) application with uploaded photographs and signature as per ICAO guidelines; 
  3. 5. Copy of lost passport;
  4. 6.Copy of FIR/Missing complaint; 

iii. Copy of Vietnam visa;

  1. 1. Copy of Indian identity card (Aadhar card, PAN card, Voter identity card);
  2. 2. 3 Copies of photograph (hard copy);
  3. 3. Post submission of application and supporting documents, the applicant is required to pay the fee (in Embassy’s designated bank account) for issuance of EC.
  4. 4. After issuance of the EC from the Embassy, applicant will be required to visit Vietnam Immigration office in Hanoi, the sole authority for granting mandatory exit visa on the Emergency Certificate and other procedure at their end so to enable movement back to India.

Note – 

  • . Processing time for issuance of exit visa is at the discretion of the Vietnamese Immigration authority and Indian Embassy has no say in it.
  • . Applicant has to make sure that both photograph and signature are to be uploaded (as per ICAO guidelines) in the portal for successful completion of the EC application and thereafter getting a printout of it for submission at the Embassy with supporting documents as enumerated above
