As part of India’s development partnership with Vietnam, an MOU was signed on 18 October 2019 in Phu Tho between the Embassy of India and the People’s Committee of Phu Tho province for implementation of a project for construction of a classroom building at Hau Bong Kindergarten in Hau Bong Commune, Ha Hoa District in Phu Tho province. The MOU was signed in the presence of the Ambassador of India, Mr. Pranay Verma and the Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee of Phu Tho, H.E. Mr. Bui Van Quang.

The project is one of the five projects under India’s Quick Impact Project (QIP) programme, each valued at US$ 50,000, being undertaken as part of India’s development assistance under the Mekong Ganga Cooperation (MGC) framework.

Built in 2006, the Hau Bong Kindergarten is the main source of childhood education in the Hau Bong Commune. With growing number of children, the Kindergarten is in the need of additional classroom space. The new project, which includes construction of a new block of two classrooms with an area of 220 square meters, will facilitate additional space for teaching and learning at the Kindergarten.

India’s development partnership with Vietnam has a long history of over four decades. The MGC Quick Impact Project programme (QIP) is one of the recent initiatives taken by the Government of India and has been moving at a steady pace since its inception in 2014. A total of nine QIP projects have been implemented in nine provinces of Vietnam so far, creating community infrastructure at grassroots level, in an effort to bring socio-economic benefits to the local people.
